While a good majority of Canadian communities take advantage of the July Canada Day long weekend to throw a great “pioneer days” shingdig, Terrace’s weekend to shine is the BC Day long weekend & following week at the start of August.
Pancake breakfast, parade down mainstreet, salmon BBQ, Slingers’ race, fireworks, concerts in the park, Bluegrass festival, Ferry Island treasure hunt, volleyball, basketball – just to name a small fraction of the events that occur.

Yearly, regional music and performing arts students come together to share their talents and skills with the community through performance and friendly competition. Competitors often go on to compete at the BC provincial level.
Running about two weeks, this festival occurs towards the last week of March / first week of April. The festival celebrates it’s 46th anniversary in 2011.

A popular bonspiel regionally, Terrace’s largest bonspiel, and probably one of the biggest in the area. This men’s only event runs in late March / early April. Depending on the number of teams, this bonspiel runs round the clock, usually starting Friday night and going through to Sunday afternoon. Skills competition, great prizes, dinner Saturday night for curlers, and great music & dancing.

Terrace’s popular women-only bonspiel takes place the weekend celebrating Valentine’s Day. The tournament starts Friday night and continues through to the finals Sunday afternoon. Saturday night banquet for the curlers, great music & dancing, and a curlers raffle for a diamond ring are some of the highlights of this fun weekend.
